Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Paris in a 1970s building on Avenue Montaigne, this 180 square metre duplex flat has been renovated by Francesco and Jessica as a ‘Parisian rooftop residence’. Inspired by the film Mulholland Drive, the creative duo have recreated the essence of a 1950s townhouse with a modern vision and a minimalist, timeless design approach.

Francesco and Jessica enjoy designing sophisticated and warm environments and wanted the space to resonate with furniture, artwork and at the same time present an atmosphere of softness, serenity and authenticity in the space.

Subtle shades of green, beige, brown and white dominate the space, whilst there are soft neutrals and warm minimalism co-adorned throughout, and the walls of this Parisian-style home are clad in French oak panelled walls to create an elegant look.

Natural materials are used extensively in this two-storey residential space, and the design team has mixed vintage furniture with contemporary pieces to give a distinctive sense of ambience.

The main entrance leads to the guest bedroom and its adjoining bathroom, and as one walks up the stairs, one reaches the living room, dining room, kitchen, and master suite.

To create spatial contrasts, the project is in ‘dialogue’ with furniture by Jacques Adnet and George Nakashima, ceramics by Floris Wubben, and a wide range of artworks by contemporary artists and designers.

The bedroom spaces feature large windows that allow for adequate ventilation and light, giving the occupants a bright and cosy ambience.

Large windows facing the Eiffel Tower in Paris bring an abundance of natural light into the living area, allowing people to enjoy the atmosphere of the romantic city in this minimalist space.

The focal point of the master bathroom is a bathtub carved from a beautiful beige stone, and the design team used a natural oak slatted screen to create a subtle light and shadow effect.
