In the case of the entrepreneur Martino di Napoli Rampolla, ‘somewhere’ is located at Via dei Pandolfini 20 in the historic centre of Florence, where a 16th-century palace has been transformed into an artistic living space.

The heart of the Numeroventi beats in the palace's central courtyard, which, as the medieval octagonal columns attest, was once a historic market square and is now a serene outdoor lounge, meeting place and event space under the watchful eyes of Hercules and Iole. This is a 17th-century marble statue by Florentine sculptor Domenico Pilates.

Numeroventi's residence, Palazzo Tassi Galli, is ideally suited as an art residence, reflecting the cultural context of Florence. Built in 1510 as a merger of several 14th-century merchant houses, it was later enlarged and decorated with 17th-century paintings, frescoes and sculptures by the Baroque masters Fabrizio Boschi, Ottavio Vannini and Francesco Furini, as well as a magnificent neo-classical staircase.

It also holds a special place in Rampolla's heart: his grandmother's uncle, the entrepreneur and theatre manager Girolamo Pagliano, bought the building in the 19th century and turned part of it into a production facility for the medicinal syrup he invented - Rampolla's grandmother lived here when he was growing up. Rampolla's grandmother also lived here during his formative years, as she did when he was at university.

A spectacular neoclassical staircase leads up to three attic flats filled with serenity and lightness. Shrouded in soft colours and natural finishes, sparsely furnished with old mid-century furniture sourced by Trotter from all over Europe, the sun-drenched loft showcases the soul of minimalism.

The top floor has more frescoes, with two suites, a guest room, a lounge and exhibition space.
