Designer Ewelina Moszczyńska and her architect husband embarked on renovating the 1970s "architectural heritage" in Warsaw's Sadyba district with a "guardian stance." Respecting the original fabric of the space, they only removed partial partitions and replaced wooden window frames, allowing the Scandinavian-style L-shaped layout to coexist elegantly with contemporary living.

Ewelina Moszczyńska states: "True sustainability means cherishing what already exists." Through this renovation, the 1970s architectural skeleton breathes and coexists with contemporary design; every restored space is a heartfelt tribute to history.

Ewelina Moszczyńska

A Baxter Milano sofa converses with a vintage dining table by Vico Magistretti within the space, while the Jørgen Høvelskov harp chair in the living room becomes the visual focal point of the entire interior.

Ingo Maurer's cloud-like pendant lamp floats lightly above the coffee table, composing a poetic blend of old and new together with the USM modular shelving system. The designer gently preserved the mottled marks – "The stories embedded in objects are the soul of a home."

A light grey marble island countertop clashes dramatically with black granite, while caramel-toned oak cabinets radiate warmth throughout the space. The curvaceous Lamina pendant light by Santa & Cole spills soft light, infusing fluid rhythm into the rational lines of large planes.

Oyster-white walls shift hues with changing light, and the parquet flooring accumulates stories underfoot. Books and art collections seem to "grow" under the skylight of the narrow corridor, while furniture and objects record the life traces of this family of four.

Mutina's Pico tiles spread serenity across the bathroom floor, while geometric tiles designed by the Bouroullec brothers scatter like stars throughout the space. Kartell storage units conceal modern ingenuity, interpreting an aesthetic dialogue that transcends time.

As light casts dappled shadows within the space, the old building finally finds rebirth through restrained renovation. Here, there is no renovator's revelry—only the guardian's reverent whisper to the passage of time.
