Casa Cedros is a cabin located in the forests of Jalisco, Mexico, which was given an interior makeover by interior design firm Aagnes.

Based in Guadalajara, the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco, Aagnes' studio's work revolves around the interplay between opposites such as traditional and modern, local and global, all of which are associated with a strong sense of place. Casa Cedros, located in the town of Tapalpa, embodies this spirit, being at one with and respecting the land in which it is situated, ultimately carving out a space for reflection and rest in the midst of nature.

Sergio Ortiz, the architect of Casa Cedros, has created a building similar to those of influential 20th century “Tapatio” architects such as Luis Barragán, Rafael Urzúa, and Pedro Castellanos. The use of local raw materials such as cedar and patios is a key element of the architecture.

The state of Jalisco is the birthplace of tequila, home to Mexico's second-largest city, and known for its quiet regional towns - some on the beach, others in the forested mountains. The project site is located in the southern mountains of the town of Tapalpa, surrounded by the region's iconic cedars and pines, making it an ideal location for a “cabin in the woods”.
